BUENOS AIRES

Casa Rosada

  • The Presidential Palace of Argentina is one of the most historic and monumental buildings in Argentina. It is also called "Casa Rosada"  because of its pink exterior.

  • The building was built in 1594. After many constructions, in 1898 the president Julio Roca announced that the Casa Rosada would be the presidential palace.

  • It is often open to the public on weekends, and there are special commentators, no tickets required.

Catedral Metropolitana de Buenos Aires

  • It locates next to Plaza de Mayo and at the right in front of the Casa Rosada.

  • The building was built in 1580 and has been rebuilt many times to become what it is today. It was declared a historical monument in 1942.

  • Free entry and exit, no tickets required.

Museo Nacional de Cabildo

  • Cabildo de Buenos Aires is the public building in Buenos Aires that was used as seat of the city hall during the colonial times and the government house of the Río de la Plata.

  • Today the building is used as a museum, in which paintings, artifacts, clothes and jewelry of the 18th century are on display. 

Plaza de Mayo

  • It located in front of Casa Rosada.

  • It is also the most popular place for all protests. In case of protest, it is not recommended to visit there.

  • Between Plaza de Mayo and Museo Nacional de Cabildo, it is Plaza De San Martín

Obelisco de Buenos Aires

  • The Obelisco de Buenos Aires is a national historic monument and icon of Buenos Aires. 

  • Located in the Plaza de la República in the intersection of avenues Corrientes and 9 de Julio.

  • It was established in 1936 to commemorate the 400 years of the first foundation of the city.

  • To explore the history and culture of the city of Buenos Aires.

  • The landmarks and gateways of the old city, understanding the city from its establishment to the present.

  • The tourist must go to museum to get the "SUBE" which is card for taking the public transport such as bus, train and metro etc.

El Ateneo Grand Splendid bookstore

  • El Ateneo Grand Splendid is one of the most famous bookstores in the world.

  • It was selected as the second most beautiful bookstore in the world by the British newspaper "The Guardian".

  • This bookstore was originally a theater built in 1919, and it was renovated into a bookstore in February 2000.

  • It is recommended to visit this bookstore and take pictures freely.

La librería de Ávila

  • La librería de Ávila. is the oldest bookstore in Buenos Aires.

  • This bookstore, established in 1785, has a history of more than two hundred years so far. It was declared a national monument by the Argentina Government in 2011.

  • It locates at the Plaza de Mayo. When it was established in 1785, the original store name was "La Botica". In addition to selling books, it also sold some other things, such as clothes, food, drugs and alcohol etc.

  • Later, it changed the owner. Because it is located opposite Colegio Nacional de Buenos Aires, it was renamed "Librería del Colegio". At this time, it has become a bookstore.

  • During the economic crisis in Argentina in 1989, the store was closed due to operational difficulties. 

  • In 1993, Miguel Ángel Ávila bought the bookstore. It reopened in 1994 and changed its name to La librería de Ávila.

  • It was declared a municipal monument by Buenos Aires in 2002 and a national monument in 2011.

Palatial Water Company

  • In Buenos Aires, there is a very beautiful building. It is not the presidential palace, not the Congress, nor the government agency, but the building of the water company.

Galerías Pacífico

  • Galerías Pacífico was a subway Line A before.

  • Construction of a large central dome decorated with 12 important frescoes. In 1989, it was listed as a National Historic Landmark.

  • After years of disuse, the building reopened in 1991 under the name Galerías Pacífico. Four more frescoes were added to the dome. 

  • Currently it opens many high-end stores, such as Polo Ralph Lauren, Christian Lacroix, Christian Dior, Lacoste, Tommy Hilfiger, Hugo Boss.

  • But the betting amount is very low because the Argentino do not like gambling.

  • Parque Palermo is a very great and beautiful park with large green zone in Buenos Aires.

  • It is located near Aeroparque de Jorge Newbery which is a local flight airport in Buenos Aires.

Puerto Madero

  • Puerto Madero is an old port of Buenos Aires. 

  • A few decades ago, most of the berths were cargo ships or bulk ships. 

  • However, in the past two decades, it has become a yacht/passenger terminal and a new restaurant and office area. 

  • Cargo ships and merchant ships have moved.

  • Every weekend, many tourists come to Tigre for an outing. Most of them take a leisure day trip to the water island life, and a small number of people spend the night on the water island.

Café Tortoni
